The pool the kids outgrew, the one that came with the house, the one that cracked over winter. We dismantle the walls and frame, roll up the liner, and haul it — pump, ladder and deck included.
An above-ground pool looks like a big job and comes apart faster than you'd think, if you have the right tools and enough hands. Our crews cut and unbolt the steel or resin walls, roll and bag the liner, pull the rails and uprights, and load it all in a couple of hours. If there's a surrounding wood deck, we remove that too and it goes on the same truck. We've done 16 pool removals in the last 24 months across the western and northwestern suburbs, where most of Chicagoland's above-ground pools live. The steel is recycled; the liner and foam go to disposal. What's left is a sand or gravel base and a circle of bare ground — we can haul the sand as well, or leave it for regrading.

This Alsip above-ground pool had a raised aluminum deck and stairs attached, which is what makes a pool removal feel like a big job. The crew took down the deck and railings first, then cut and unbolted the steel pool wall, rolled the liner, and pulled the uprights and rails. The sand base was left in place. One truck. Pool decks come down with the pool — you don't need a separate contractor for the deck.

Fall is the best time to remove a dead pool — the ground has all winter to settle before you seed.

Not with our trucks — in-ground removal is excavation work (breaking the shell, backfilling and compacting). We can haul the deck, fencing, equipment and any debris around it, and we can refer you to an excavation contractor for the shell.
Chlorine, shock and algaecide are household hazardous waste. Chicago residents can bring them to the city's facility at 1150 N. North Branch St.; suburban residents should use their county HHW program. We can't transport them.
Yes, by the truckload with a weight surcharge — sand is heavy. Many people spread it into the lawn or use it for a patio base instead; the crew will tell you the cost both ways.
