When yours is past saving, we do the whole job in one visit: empty it (keep pile, junk pile), take the roof, walls and floor apart in sections, pull the base if it's a simple gravel or block pad, and load everything up. Metal sheds get cut and folded, resin sheds unclip, and wood sheds come apart with a saw and a few crowbars.
Most of the shed jobs we've done in the last 24 months were in the near-west and north suburbs, often paired with a garage cleanout or a fence removal on the same day. Metal goes to recycling; wood and shingles go to a licensed C&D facility. You don't need to be home for a shed, either. Do I need to empty the shed first?
Not at all. Tell us what you're keeping and we'll set those things aside; everything else goes with the shed.
Do I need a permit to remove a shed?
Small detached sheds often don't require a demolition permit, but rules vary by municipality and by size. Check with your village or the City of Chicago Department of Buildings if you're unsure, and we'll haul whatever comes down.
Can you remove the concrete slab?
Not with our equipment, since slab removal takes a jackhammer. We can haul the broken concrete if a contractor breaks it up (a weight surcharge applies), or leave the slab for a new shed or patio.
Is a shed recyclable?
Metal sheds and frames are recycled. Wood is usually treated or painted and goes to a C&D facility. Resin sheds aren't recyclable in this market.
How long does it take?
An hour or two for a small metal or resin shed; most of a morning for a large wood shed with contents.
