Chicago's Streets & Sanitation takes bagged yard waste only during a short seasonal program and by request, and never takes mowers, grills or furniture. Suburban haulers have their own limits. What's left is a pile in the yard or the alley that gets bigger every season. We take it in one trip — over 250 outdoor jobs in the last 24 months, from post-storm branch piles to full patio clear-outs — and because it's outside, you usually don't need to be home. Illinois bans landscape waste from landfills, so branches, brush and leaves go to a composting or landscape-waste facility. Metal (mowers, grills, furniture frames) is recycled. Pavers, bricks and soil are heavy and carry a weight surcharge, which the crew will tell you before loading.

-
2
The crew gives you a firm price on the spot
They look at everything and quote one number that covers labor, loading, hauling and disposal. No obligation: if it doesn't work for you, they leave and there's no charge.
-
3
Say yes and it's gone — same visit
The crew carries everything out from wherever it sits, loads it, and sweeps up. Most jobs are finished in that same visit.
-
4
You don't even have to be there
If the crew can reach the items — alley, garage, a doorman or a code — they'll do the job while you're at work, send before-and-after photos, and take payment by phone or with a card on file.
Yard Waste, Lawn Mower, Grill & Patio Junk Removal FAQs
Does the City of Chicago pick up yard waste?
Only bagged landscape waste, only by request through 311, and only in season (typically April–November). Branches over 4 feet, stumps and any furniture or equipment are not accepted. That's what we're for.
Do you take propane tanks?
We take the grill but not the tank. Exchange it at any hardware store or drop it at Chicago's Household Chemicals facility at 1150 N. North Branch St.
Can you take a storm-damaged tree?
We take branches and logs a crew can lift — generally under 8 inches in diameter and cut to manageable lengths. For large trunks and stump grinding, you want a tree service; we're happy to haul what they leave.
Do you take dirt, gravel and pavers?
Yes, with a weight surcharge. A small amount goes with other junk; a large amount is its own truckload. The crew will tell you before loading.
Do I need to be home?
Not for yard and alley pickups. Point us at the pile (a photo or a note works), and the crew texts you the price for a yes before they load.
What about railroad ties or treated lumber?
We take them. They're not recyclable and go to a licensed C&D facility.
Free Onsite Estimate, One Firm Price
We don't quote by phone. The crew comes out for free, looks at what's going and how it's getting out — stairs, elevators, heavy material — and gives you one number that covers everything. Say yes and they do the job on the spot. Say no and there's no charge.
