A dead hot tub is a few hundred pounds of acrylic, foam and wood sitting on your deck. We cut it into pieces, carry them out through the gate, and haul it all away, usually in about an hour.
Hot tubs never leave the way they came in. A crane set it on the deck, or it arrived before the fence went up, and now the gate is 36 inches wide. Our crews bring saws, cut the shell and cabinet into sections that fit through the gate or gangway, and load them straight onto the truck. Deck-integrated (sunken) tubs take a little longer because we also lift the surrounding decking to free the shell. Honestly, it's one of our favorite jobs.
We've removed 25 hot tubs in the last 24 months, from backyard portables in Arlington Heights to in-deck installs in Winnetka. Metal frames and pumps are recycled, and the acrylic shell and foam go to a licensed facility. You don't even need to be home for it: as long as the power is disconnected and the gate is unlocked, the crew can cut it up and haul it while you're at work, then text you the before-and-after photos.

A licensed electrician (or you, if you're comfortable) should disconnect and cap the 220V line. We don't do electrical work. If the tub is still full, don't worry, we can drain it.
One firm price on arrival. The shell, cabinet, insulation foam and plumbing come out in sections, typically within an hour or two for a standard tub.
We sweep up the foam and shavings. If you want the deck footprint patched, we'll leave it ready for your carpenter.

Yes, that's how most tubs leave, and no, we keep it tidy. We cut in sections, keep the debris contained and sweep up afterward. Foam shavings are the main mess, and we clean them up before we go.
Yes, we love these! We lift the decking around it to free the shell, then cut and haul. Expect a couple of extra hours. We leave the deck framing in place so your contractor can patch or extend it.
The steel or aluminum frame, pump motor, heater and copper are all recycled. The acrylic or fiberglass shell and the foam insulation aren't recyclable in the Chicago area, so they're disposed of properly at a licensed facility.
