Furniture is what we haul more than anything else — over 2,200 furniture pickups in the last 24 months, most of them in Chicago apartments and condos where the problem isn't the couch, it's the stairs. Our crews carry from any floor, take doors off hinges if they have to, and break down what won't fit. Building rules, freight elevators and alley access are routine for us. Metal frames and springs are recycled; anything that can be re-homed instead of landfilled, is; the rest goes to a licensed facility. Chicago's garbage crews won't take most furniture, and Streets & Sanitation bulk pickup is limited and slow — which is why this is the job we get called for most.

How Furniture Removal Works

  1. 1

    Book a free onsite estimate

Book online, or call or text (312) 800-1940. Pick an arrival window — same-day and next-day are often available, Monday through Saturday.

  2. 2

The crew gives you a firm price on the spot

They look at everything and quote one number that covers labor, loading, hauling and disposal. No obligation: if it doesn't work for you, they leave and there's no charge.

  3. 3

Say yes and it's gone — same visit

The crew carries everything out from wherever it sits, loads it, and sweeps up. Most jobs are finished in that same visit.

  4. 4

You don't even have to be there

If the crew can reach the items — alley, garage, a doorman or a code — they'll do the job while you're at work, send before-and-after photos, and take payment by phone or with a card on file.

Furniture Removal FAQs

How much does it cost?

We don't quote by phone — the crew gives you one firm, no-obligation price when they see the furniture and the route out. Stairs, elevators and heavy items are part of that estimate, so the price they quote is the price you pay. If it doesn't work for you, there's no charge.

Do you take furniture from upper floors or walk-ups?

Yes. Third-floor walk-ups are half our city work. The crew sizes up the stairs as part of the estimate.

Will you take furniture that's still in good shape?

Yes, and we'd rather see it re-homed than landfilled. We can't promise every piece finds a home — older upholstered furniture and particleboard rarely do — but usable pieces don't go straight to disposal.

Can I just leave it in the alley or on the curb?

Legally, no — Chicago fines for alley dumping run into the hundreds of dollars and Streets & Sanitation bulk pickup is by 311 request with limits. Practically, furniture left in an alley gets rained on and stays there. It's cheaper to have it picked up than to get a ticket.

Do you take mattresses and box springs too?

Yes, same truck. See mattress removal.

Do I need to be home?

No — and a lot of our customers aren't. If the crew can reach the item (alley, garage, porch, a doorman or a door code), they text you the price for a yes, do the job, send before-and-after photos, and take payment by phone or card on file.

Can you disassemble large pieces?

Yes. Sectionals, wardrobes, bunk beds and IKEA units get broken down as needed to get them out.
